Flock Work Session 9-18-26

I appreciated today’s discussion regarding the Flock system here in Ottawa County. I remain concerned about the 30-day retention of Flock data, as well as outside sharing—especially with entities far removed from Ottawa County.

I also share the concerns raised by Commissioners Miedema and Rhodea regarding the contracts’ automatic-renewal provisions and the County’s post-execution ratification policy, both of which can reduce meaningful Board oversight of an important public-safety and privacy matter.

I hope Board leadership places this matter on a future Board agenda for follow-up discussion and consideration of specific next steps, particularly because much of the information presented was provided to commissioners for the first time today
